Please thank the Lord of all there is for His gracious gifts and abundant generosity to this ministry. Thank Him for His faithfulness to us and all His people. Please ask Him for wisdom in all decisions made and activities done related to One Way International. Please ask our Heavenly Father for purity of motive and character as we seek to serve Him in a way that would bring glory back to Himself. Please join us in offering the following requests to our providing God.
Field Related:
Backpacks for Kids Program--Please pray that backpacks, school supplies, and Bibles/devotionals for those who register will be provided for the 2008/09 school year. Pray that the gifts received will encourage the students and their families and make a spiritual impact in their lives. Registrations will be completed by July 15, 2008. Financial gifts and donated supplies must be received by August 15, 2008.
One Way Bible Club--Please join with us in asking the Lord to provide four new workers for our Saturday morning Bible club. All other ministries of One Way International have grown from One Way Bible Club and it is a vital link to our families. Workers are needed to serve food, oversee games, provide music, lead small groups, and teach Bible lessons and Scripture verses to children ages 5-10. Club times are 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
Riverside/Mission Reading Club--Mentors/tutors are needed to provide encouragement for students grades 1st through high school. High school senior to adult workers, are needed either Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons from 4:15-6:30 pm during the regular school year. Tutors work one-on-one with students in phonics, reading comprehension, math skills, and spiritual education. We are currently enlisting tutor/mentors for the 2008/09 school year.
Teen Time--Our newest ministry opportunity started in October 2007. Teens are invited to attend a youth group on Tuesday evenings at Mission Apts. and Wednesday evenings at Riverside Apts. following the conclusion of our Reading Club. We serve dinner, provide music, games, and a spiritual lesson from 6:45-8:15 pm. Presently, our Teen Time staff numbers four at each location. We need two to three more workers at each location to minister and develop relationship with the uniquely wonderful young people God has given us the opportunity to work with. Please pray for these new workers as well as finances for providing day and week-end retreats for the students four times a year, and the large amounts of food they like to eat!
His Hill Summer Camp Scholarships--Students participating in any of our programs ages 8 to 18 are invited to a week of camp out-of-town in Comfort, Texas each year. We send 20-25 students per year at a cost of $100 per camper. Please pray that God will provide the needed finances for all campers for the two weeks of camp scheduled this year between June 8 and 20. All donations are needed by May 15, 2008.
Summer Mission Team/Camp One Way 2008--Please pray that God will send workers for the harvest. Ten summer missionaries are needed for this year´s Camp One Way 2008 at Riverside and Mission Apartments. Service dates are June 21, 28, and June 29 through July 14. Pray that those God has called wanting a summer mission experience in inner city San Antonio will apply by the May 15th deadline. Missionaries must be 15 years or age through adult. OWI provides training and all OWI staff are personally involved in the camp on a day-to-day basis. In addition, please pray for the finances needed to provide Bibles, snacks, lunches, T-shirts, and awards for 50 energetic campers.
Office Related:
Board Members--One Way International is seeking three new board members with a desire to make Godly decisions for this ministry. Board members meet bi-monthly and meetings times are on Saturdays for approximately two to three hours each meeting. Pray that God would bring His appointed ones to this very special board of directors and ministry opportunity.
Finances--Please join us in asking the God who "ownes the cattle on a thousand hills" to supply our every need. Ministry expenses span from office supplies, insurance, staff salaries, program funding, to overseas teaching trips. Pray that those whom God directs will generously and sacrificially give to supply the needs throughout the year for every area in which He is working to draw souls unto Himself.
Staff--One Way International is a small ministry with three paid staff and MANY volunteers. OWI needs more paid staff and more volunteers. Please make your request to our providing Father for the additional paid and volunteer staff needed at this time. Please also pray for the finances with which to pay the additional paid staff as we are a faith based ministry, depending on God´s provision for all funds and resouces needed for salaries, office expenses, and programs.
