Teen Time has begun! Six girls and five boys have come. We caught up with them on how life has been. They spoke of school and online learning as the groups are mixed in who is attending school in person. Thankfully none of them have had covid. All were very compliant with distancing and mask wearing. One of our boys has developed major physical illness but not covid which makes mask wearing more important than ever for the long term health of this teenager. Please pray for him and his family as they travel this journey. The disease is not contagious so no one else is at risk, just this young man. We will let you know how better to pray for him and his family as more diagnosis is made by doctors in May. Although this photo is not of him, it has an uncanny likeness to him. This was devastating news to hear from his mother when we visited families to let them know we were starting teen time once again. She is allowing the boys to come now and did not in the fall. She said, “they need this.” I found masks in this setting brought me great sadness as we have always been so close to our teens. They are definitely a barrier to their sharing openly as they did in the past. As “summer” arrives, we will focus on ways to meet outside and do away with masks while keeping all of our kiddos as safe as possible, especially the teen with newly compromised health.
